Food for Thought...

I always have my kids come over to the carpet by listening for the "clue." Like everyone who lives in Lancaster...has on green...is 6 years old, etc. Today, I had them come over by what they had for supper. I first had the one's that had eaten at a restaurant come over...you know there is always going to be a couple that got to eat out! Then, I started naming off common suppers of small children...you know, spaghetti, tacos, corn dogs, hot dogs. I only had about 7 kids sitting on the carpet. What had the rest ate? One had had lasagna...yum, at Grandma's! Two didn't have supper, makes you take into consideration their trouble concentrating! 1 had potluck, which means you find your own supper....to me that's leftover night. No, she had a pickle and a piece of bread! Oh my! One had had beanie and weanies, yum...an oldie but goodie. That sure was an interesting survey, I think I'll do it more often. It definitely made my list of: The Things That Make You Say HMMMMM!

so sad for the ones that didn't have supper. i can't imagine not feeding my kids! i am sure it was fun and interesting at the same time.

I should try that in fourth grade. I wonder if the older kids are more self sufficient, or if they will go without. I hope that they all liked chicken nuggets today. It's very sad.

Interesting is for sure.....sometimes mine will say they did not have supper, but I know what time they ate last and it was not that long before supper....but then it is never on a school night either....makes you wonder what goes on at their households...! But then it is interesting to see what others had and may be even a good idea for supper at your house.

make you say hmmm or make you cry...depends on the day and the kid.

How far into this were you when you thought, maybe I should have went with colors?
When I was in first grade my answer would have probably been I don't remember what I had for supper.
I hope that's not a regular thing for the two who didn't have supper.

I'm going to believe the little ones who said they didn't have supper just didn't remember, b/c it'll break my heart if they really didn't get any!! (retreating back into my cocoon where children never have to go w/o eating!)
