July 11

Let me tell you about July 11th.....
It must be THE date!
I have been invited to 6 things on this date. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.
Here's what's going on.
A bridal shower that Jenn is throwing at 10 a.m.
A open house for a new baby from 10-12.
A going away party for Vance's sister, in Moberly, at noon.
A Frederick shindig that starts at 2 and goes all night.
My grandpa's 75th birthday party at 6.
The Aeschliman hog roast at 7.
Plus the Bloomfield fair is going on and I would like to go watch the entertainment....too bad!
I just keep getting stuff in the mail. My calendar spot is filled.
I think we're just going to run away and not go to any of it:)!

Dining

I got to book our Disney Vacation dining reservations today. It was so much fun! Here is what I did....
Tuesday we fly out early in the morning, but we're not going into any of the parks that day. We're just taking the day to relax, unpack, and enjoy our resort. This is where we're staying
*.
On Wednesday, we're heading into the Magic Kingdom....straight to meet Cinderella. For supper, we will be dining with her.....see it
here.
Thursday, I'm not sure what our plan is. We have the park hopper pass, so we can hop around. We will end up at Epcot Center for supper
here.
Friday morning, we have to check out sometime....we have reservations for breakfast with Chef Mickey back at the Magic Kingdom. See a picture
here. Then we'll visit more parks and maybe head back to our favorites. We will also allow the kids to pick a souvenir before we leave. That way we don't lug them around all day!
I have a few ideas for the trip. I would love for the kids to make an autograph book to take with them and have the characters sign....does anyone have any good ideas to keep this from being cumbersome? I don't want it to be come a fight to keep track of it. I thought about carrying one decent size bag for everyone, or would it be better for everyone to have a small backpack? I would love some pointers!
After we leave Disney World...we'll be heading to Cocoa Beach until Monday morning. We have a
pretty neat hotel reserved to stay in there. It has an aquarium in it!
I hope we have as good of a time as I have dreamed up in my head:)!

Sheltered Life

Let me tell you about my poor, sheltered life. I'm 29 years old and I have Never, Ever lived in a house with central AC. The trailer we lived in had central AC, but it would keep the house at a toast 99 degrees! I've always hated the AC and I'm still not it's biggest fan, but it sure is nice. The window units blow hard and cool one spot. It's annoying! I still like to have the house opened up b/c I like the fresh air smell and I like to be able to hear my kids play....however when the real feel is 112, I will accept the AC with open arms!
On another note, we took our kids for a swim in our pond tonight. It was so much fun, just the 4 of us and such a quick walk from our front porch. The kids loved it and Kodiak was a swimming machine! They're begging to go again tomorrow! Colby played ball tonight and you could definitely tell he's a farm boy...he weathered the heat quite well.....
Stay cool and stop by for a swim....

1000 Word Thursday!

Cheaper Than Therapy

What a pretty girl and a pretty heart. She told her Aunt Lorn Lorn that when you think about toys and stuff your thinking with your brain. When you think about Jesus and God your thinking with your heart. How true?

How Long

How long do I have? It seems that I've held on to Emma being my "baby" longer than Colby. Is it because she's the last or b/c she's a girl? I still hold her at church....she sits on my lap....we snuggle in the morning. How long do I have?
I think she's smaller than Colby so it's not such an effort to hold her or boost her up on my lap. I also think she accepts it easier than Colby. She is definitely a joy....everyday, in the smallest ways. She watches people, notices things other don't. She is kind and caring and I can't wait to see what the future brings for her.
I love you, pretty girl!

A friend sent me this message through facebook today....it brought tears to my eyes! Thanks, Laci!
"I just wanted to send a quick message to tell you what Emma did today. She sits next to L and for the activity they both picked horse books as their favorite book. As part of the activity they were drawing pictures of what their favorite book was about. Emma drew a very nice barn and horse (you'll see it when I return them to school tomorrow). L was struggling to draw her horse. I helped her with ideas (what shape is the head, body, etc.) but she was very unhappy with her horse. I told her I thought it was a great horse and Emma agreed. Then I walked away to go to another table. When I looked back, Emma was talking very softly to her and then she drew a horse for her which put a big smile on L's face.
Your daughter is so sweet and caring and just lovely. I know you know all these things about her, but I still wanted to share that with you. "

I had a friend point out to me that I am not blogging lately. I don't know why...part of the reason is getting out of the routine when my Internet was down for 15 days. Here are some things that have happened for us lately.

Vance left with my mom and Colby for North Dakota on Thursday night. He went up for the prairie dog hunt. Colby ended up with the flu and my mom was the puke scrubber....thanks mom! Vance won and they got home late last night.

I finished summer school. Thank Goodness! I am enjoying life with my kiddos. Today, Colby and I took a walk with him on his bike and me with Kodiak...who thought it was way too hot to be out! Emma is still going to summer school b/c she loves it!

Emma got a new pony....not sure how that is going to work out. She's fallen off twice. I'll post pictures soon.

In one week, I get to book our dinner reservations for our Disney Vacation...I can't believe it's almost time! I put up a countdown and have slowly been acquiring things to take with.

We have games today and both have at least two games next week.

Off to fold laundry Vance brought home:)!

an addiction

I am slightly addicted to yardsaling....as you can see!
In my defense, my sister's are just as addicted....
This is Jenn's car after a morning of "shopping."

Some of my good deals!
A spade and scraper....for $8.00.

A ballgame chair for $1.00, I have a lot of ballgames in my future!
2 backpacks with lots of pockets and wheels for my kids to take on the plane with them.

Purple tube lights for Emma's hidey hole!
A really pretty lamp for $3.
A teapot that I planted flowers in!
I bought this gas can at an antique store.... I love it!
I got this box for $2 and then painted in burgundy.....
I got other treasures including a handful of clothes for my kiddos....
Do you like yardsaling?
Oh yeah, my new watering can from Home Depot, super cute!
p.s. Doesn't anyone really know how to spell yardsaling?...what is the correct way?!

Right Now...

I am watching 5th graders paint sun catchers in cowboy camp. The begged me to let them listen to my kindergarten alphabet songs....so that's what we're listening to. They are so funny.....

June 5, 1999

Can you believe it? Vance and I have been married for 10 years! 10 years ago today we got married at my home church, LCC. We were married by the minister that was with us when we started dating, Brent Fleshmen. We each had 2 people stand up with us, me: Corin and Ang....Vance: James Floyd and McCoy....Jenn played the piano at the mature age of....14! and Lauren and Chance were the flower girl/ring bearer. What a long time it seems to have been! Since then we have bought a house and built one, have 2 beautiful children, and both have finished school and enjoy our jobs. We feel very blessed and fortunate!
Here's to 10 years of ups and downs, Babe.....
and to 10 more.....

1000 Word Thursday!

More ball pics....

Look at the determination.....

Yes! I made it!

What concentration and strength!

Hustle!
I love watching Colby play because I can just be the mom and sit and cheer. It's fun to not always be "in charge" of everything. Not that I'm ALWAYS in charge, but it seems like I'm involved in some way.
(Thanks Mikey for taking our pics)!

Summer School

My pretty princess on her first day of summer school. She loves it! She tells me every little detail of the day. So different from a boy who just shrugs and mumbles stuff to make you feel like he is joining in on the conversation. Emma just cracks me up...she is pretty sure her teacher is right up there with God in the knowledge department and dotes on her every word. I am so glad she is enjoying it!Here she is waiting in the big gym. Right to left....Haley Eggers, Emma, Sylvia Harding, Bailie Atkinson, and Tinley on the right I believe....hard to tell.

Colby waiting for 2nd grade...can you believe it?

And Bronson Shaw...he informed me today that Emma and him were the only good ones in their class. They sit across from each other and are doing great!

Ball Update

This week.... ALL GAMES ARE AT HOME!!
Thursday: Colby plays @ 6:00 against the other Lancaster team Homer Trucking
Emma plays @ 7:30 against Cardwell Lumber (Memphis)?
Friday: Emma plays @ 6:00 against Novinger
Colby plays @ 7:00 against Sun Loan
Some things that have happened since my Internet went down....
A life changing tornado tore through Novinger and Kirksville changing people's lives and leaving devastation behind. My husband worked for nearly a week on 30 hours of sleep....
My littlest sister graduated from high school and we spent many days preparing for it...
We had family in town for the graduation and lots of fun showing off our house!

Both of my children started ball.
Colby loves it and is proving to be pretty good....in my opinion. This is only his 2nd year playing and he's on the 7 and 8 year old team. He's catching on to the rules quickly, truly loves it, and is a joy to watch!
Emma loves the idea of ball and excels when she's doing well. We are working on self control, one of the fruits of the spirit! She growls and rants and raves and has proved to have much sass out on the field.Emma officially graduated from preschool. What a hard day....letting Judy go after seeing her 5 days a week for 7 years! There were tears and not just from Emma. Emma also started summer school. She loves it! The first days she did have...."some water in her eyes, for Judy." But she's doing well.
Colby finished 1st grade and loved his teacher even when school wasn't "that fun." He's missing summer school as much as possible and running to Bible Grove to stay with grandma and grandpa. This week we shipped him off late Sunday night and will run over and get him Thursday afternoon before his game. He needs this break from school.
We have also had many other things going on....some I will try to blog about. I just didn't want you to think I had fallen off the face of the World Wide Web......
