Groundbreaking!

Well, we finally dug our basement. After MUCH measuring, discussing, measuring, figuring, discussing, and did I mention measuring we begain digging on Saturday morning. Friday night, we measured and painted our lines and Bree and I cleaned up a little bit. We erected a HUGE wall, o.k. a wall, of wood. We would have never gotten it accomplished if it hadn't been for Bree's snazzy boots!
We dug, o.k. Jared and Vance dug at daybreak. Somebody had to stay home until the kids got up! Vance got a picture of the first shovel full! It took ALL day to dig the hole and walk out part. Just as we were finishing up Jared had Vance step off the basement, b/c he thought it looked a little small. Hmmm...it was only 30 feet! Uh-oh we needed at least 34 feet. Soooo...we got the track hoe back out, o.k. Jared did, and began scrapping the sides to get more feet. Then began the measuring, arguing, measuring, phone calls, etc. Finally, at 9:00 I went home and was shortly followed by Vance.

Sunday morning, Jared, Vance, and Jerry (the plumber) worked for 5 more hours on the basement. We now declare it done with the exception of some of the walk out part, which will later be pushed with a bull dozer. Tomorrow morning will start the cement phase of our house. Footings, forms, drains, and walls. Hurray!

Our awesome wall and the snazzy boots! I know I look pretty hot too!

Doesn't she look so small down in there?

This is what our children did ALL day! They love the dirt!

I love my boots:) You are right had it not been for them we would not have gotten it done. Good thing I put them on! Did you mention measuring? and did you mention they were trying to blame it on you? nope! somebody moved the stakes! Why is it they always want to blame the women?
