Day 4: Almost there

Well, we made it through pouring the walls without rain. Hurray for that. I know I prayed every day for no rain. This morning it rained and started caving in our dirt walls, so Vance and his Amish helpers began taking down the forms. The walls look great! He is there right now, back filling with rock so if it rains and the rest of the dirt walls come in we have rock beneath it. Then we will continue to backfill as the weather allows and wait for Jerry to come stubb in all of the drains etc. After the drains and water lines are in place we will pour the floor. Then our basement will be complete except the walkout part which will be built by Kelly.
We ordered our windows today. That is a HUGE purchase. Vance and I DISCUSSED the benefits of double hung vs. single hung. Double hung is the kind that both top and bottom open and can be tilted in to clean. Of course single hung is a lot cheaper, but we went with double hung b/c well...I wanted to! I don't want to go outside and get a ladder to clean my windows. Still contemplating how we're going to clean that dormer that will be a skylight. That might be on Vance's honey do list:)
The bottom center part of the picture shows that infamous t-wall that was added at the last minute.
Colby's escape window...for emergencies only!
A view from the inside.

Last one:)
