Mutton Bustin'

Colby did great in the mutton bustin'. He won 1st! At the last minute, Bronson opted out, but he was great at cheering his buddy on!

UPDATE: oops...uploaded the wrong picture! that one was the steer panty raid, i'll try to get the right one up tonight!

What I did this weekend....

This weekend I did a lot of things...

ate a lot of dust

did not cook once

bathed a lot of kids
handed out a lot of dollars

experienced great company
enjoyed two beautiful days that God created

hung out with some good lookin' boys

stood in line forever to watch these boys turn in their ping pong balls

watched a pretty snazzy parade

watched some tough cowboys work their stuff....
and cheered on my husband as he did one of the things he loves best!
What did you do?

Balance

Balancing is hard.
It gets harder as you get older.
You can't stand on one leg without casually leaning on the wall.
Or the child next to you:)!
It also gets harder to balance your time.
What's important?
I'm struggling with that right now.
I think others are too.
Enrollment in all clubs and activities are down.
Are people just hanging out at home?
It seems like I always make a resolution to keep my obligations down to a minimum....spending time with the kids is #1.
But then I'm tempted....
...to just let Colby play soccer. It's only 6 weeks after all. It's good exercise and he loves sports.
...to let Emma take dance. It's only one day a week and she's riding with her friend Sylvia, so I only have to pick her up.
...and of course, we'll be involved in the new church programa AWANA. What's more important than teaching your children about God's love? Nothing!
What about me?
Well...
...I'll just c0-start a Bunco group. I mean we only play once a month. Mom's have to have their time too, right?
...and, then I'll do aerobics. It's just twice a week and for 45 mins. Right in town. I need to be healthy for myself, too.
So now, what does this all lead to, you might ask?
Ummm...
Monday: Emma goes to dance after school, I take Colby home and we enjoy some one on one time...while doing homework:)
Tuesday: aerobics and soccer practice....once a month Bunco.
Wednesday: church...for all of us, except Vance
Thursday: aerobics and soccer
Friday: B.R.E.A.T.H.....and watch Vance rope
Saturday: soccer game
Sunday: church and a NAP!
Such is my life.
I love it!
But how does it get this out of control?
I mean, we've turned down a lot....
but it seems that we're still involved in a lot.
And don't forget:
homework
bonding
seeing my husband
playing
cleaning
eating
Whew....

Countdown...

has begun! Emma and I made this on Monday. We're so excited that we can hardly stand it! As I was printing out the picture of the castle, Emma squealed and said...."I can't look!" I asked her why and she said, "It's just too beautiful, I can't stand to look at it!" She's just too funny!

A Memory...

Just a memory, but a very sweet one. Here's to my sweet, soft-hearted little boy...oh how I love him! Thanks Aunt Lorn Lorn for taking this picture!

Solemn

I've been feeling solemn lately. thoughtful. quiet.
lots of hmmmm... moments.
I went to an assembly tonight. Remembering Rachel Scott...a victim of the Columbine school shootings. Wow. What a wonderful young lady. She really knew what she wanted out of her short life. Please learn more about her. Decide to join her challenge.
Rachel's Challenge. A chain reaction of kindness!
To top that off...I've been lurking through blogs lately. Blogs of people I don't know. Tragedy has struck their homes, lives, existence! Yet, God has prevailed. If you want to read, pray, put things into perspective....click on a one of these links
1, 2, or 3 to name a short few. It has really helped me learn to not take one moment for granted.
I feel mellower (is that a word)...the little things don't make me snap. Just enjoy them! We lay on the couch and giggle and read stories at night, go caterpillar hunting, make pictures, etc.
Tonight, Colby's puppy died. It was so sad. He cried and cried and cried. We had only gotten him on Saturday, so we were only getting to know him. I have a few pics but they are on my computer at work. He was so proud of HIS puppy. How did I make him giggle tonight? I let Kodiak in the house, but shhhh...don't tell Vance! It was lots of fun to run and run around the house watching Kodiak slip and slide. And then I let him sleep in our bed, b/c that's always the best place to sleep right?
Sweet dreams, friends. I hope that you go home and love on your special people tonight!

p.s. after rereading this post, i'm not sure it makes sense. sorry....i'll try to do better tomorrow!
