A Recap in Pictures

Wednesday night: Sonlight....pajama night, Emma and Sylvia had matching p.j.s....couldn't resist a picture.
Thursday: get a call that Vance is leaving for an ice storm. We hurriedly packed and then took the kids to family fun night. They had lots of fun experimenting, making crafts, and socializing.
Colby making a snowy picture!
Emma and one of her many masterpieces.
Mrs. Yearns was giving away puppies....a great source of entertainment, even if we didn't bring one home!
Friday: I got up at 6 and took Vance to town to leave, got the kids off, went by and played with Natalee until her morning nap and then went shopping with Bree. I found many unnecessary good deals and upheld my crown of the #1 impulse shopper/buyer. I got my kid's Easter outfits, new shoes, and various other "to good to pass up" deals. I also got a call from the school nurse saying Colby was sick. I really didn't believe her, but sure enough he was. Mom took him home for me until I could get back and BOY was he sick. I've never seen my son so sick, he would literally hang over the trash can/toilet. I felt so bad. He spend the evening on the couch and me on the recliner. Restful....let me tell you.
Saturday: much better for Colby. We went to the church's prayer breakfast, where my kids participated in Miss Lynne's prayer/praise message. Emma did a great job, Colby smiled from the background.
Saturday noon: Emma had a birthday party with Sylvia. Hair/makeup/nails.....a little girl's dream. A good time was had by all. I had lunch with Corin and scored the second season of Gilmore Girls!
Finished product!
Sunday: Church, Mom's for lunch, and home again, home again. I had an offer for a super bowl party/get together, but I wasn't feeling very sociable. I miss Vance, no other words to sum it up. It seems like when you're "other half" isn't there, everyone else's is. I know it sounds corny, but everyone else is holding hands, smiling at each other, or there is a sappy love song on the radio. I will forever hold those that deal with this time after time for a much longer period of time in my thoughts and prayers. It's lonely at night, when the kiddos are in bed or even sometimes when they're not. They play so well, as they do when Vance is here....we would watch something together, talk or not....it doesn't really matter what we would do. It's just the fact that it would be an option TO do something. So, here's to 7-14 of the longest days of my 2009!

Do You...

Shop at Aldi's? I used to and sometimes still do. I feel like a LOT of their stuff is cheaper. Why do I ask? Another blog I read put up a cost comparision of the stuff she buys there vs. Wal-Mart. Check it out @ Rocks In My Dryer...

Name brand vs. Store brand

Just gotta know....
What's your opinon on name brand items?
Jenn got this picture of Mike and a HUGE box of Cherrios at her baby shower.
I made the comment that that box would have been toasted oat rounds at our house.
Ya know, the play off of Cheerios.
Soooo...do you buy name brand things?
I have a few obsessions that MUST be name brand...
  • velveeta
  • miracle whip
  • ketchup
  • shampoo
  • toothpaste
  • t.p.
  • paper towels
  • salad dressing

Definitely off brand...

  • cereal
  • sugar/flour
  • seasonings
  • pop-tarts
  • mustard
  • cheese
  • and much, much, more...

What's the rules at your house?

The Bestest Day in the Whole World!

Emma and I had a mommy/daughter date today. It was a lot of fun and a day I will remember for a long time. I love having a girl and having only 1 so it can be "special" time. I know God decides these things, so those of you that have two...you just get even more special time. Vance and I try really hard to do things with just one child every now and then. It most often works out that it is him and Colby and me and Emma, but sometimes we mix things up. I love listening to Vance retell a day with Emma...she's quite the character.
Sooo....our day.

We left at 7 to be at the doctor at 9. Everything checked out good, so don't call after 10 tonight:) Then Emma and I started out at Toys R Us, because she just thought that sounded like a good idea. She bought a new Cinderella dress b/c her other one was so tattered that Cinderella wouldn't have worn it to clean in! After that, we headed to Old Navy. There Emma chose her Halloween costume, a butterfly. She hemed and hawed until she decided, but stated that it was a VERY hard decision. I also bought some new shirts. Then, on to Chuck E Cheese. We were one of three families there, the food was great and it was very calm. We played lots of games and then ate and then played some more. We were concentrating on a shooting game and a shadow came over us. It was Chuck E himself! Emma got to dance with him. It was great, although she said his hand was smooshy!

This horse was really neat. You could make it go fast, jump, and turn. She's watching a screen that makes her look like she's running a race. She rode this thing about 10 times!

She also thought it was pretty neat to dance on the big screen!

After our lunch we headed to the mall. A few more purchases and we were heading home. She said on the way home that bestest girls need to shop together more often!...yep!

P.S. An Emma funny....she is so impressed with herself b/c she can turn the light on and off in the bathroom without standing on the stool. Go Runt!

Starting Early

Miss Emma was a ball on Saturday. We had a lot of fun shopping. She made a long detour at the Build A Bear workshop, which Jenn has promised her can be her birthday present this year. Then, on to more shopping. Below I caught her scanning the racks at Baby Gap. So cute...just like a big girl! She even picked a dress and held it up to her, but decided purple would be a better choice. We looked throughout the whole mall, but never came up with a purple dress.
